FLEx version 3.0 unveiled for eLexicography conference
Dictionary View
Tools to edit multiple lexical entries in a single operation
(October 2009) SIL FieldWorks Language Explorer (FLEx) was released this month in version 3.0. FLEx is part of the SIL FieldWorks software suite that helps researchers to manage language and cultural data from the initial collection stage to the publication of dictionaries, text collections and grammars. Acclaimed by field researchers for features not found in other software, FLEx is currently being used in small- to medium-sized dictionary projects worldwide and at several universities.
Conference: eLexicography in the 21st Century
FLEx is being presented by David Baines of SIL at a conference, eLexicography in the 21st Century: New Challenges, New Applications (eLEX2009), held in Belgium 22–24 October. The conference aims to explore innovative developments in the field of electronic lexicography. SIL has developed more than 60 pieces of software to support the work of field workers. Like many other SIL software products, most of which are available to the public for free download, FLEx is available under the SIL Open Source License.
