| Abstract | This report provides an introduction to policies, institutions, and social attitudes that affect Taiwan's hearing-impaired population. The report consists of (1) an overview of public provision for the hearing impaired in Taiwan and (2) a discussion of social attitudes toward the hearing impaired and Taiwan Sign Language. Factors with the potential of influencing the use of translated or indigenous material in Taiwan Sign Language are given particular consideration. |
